Downtown Orientation to Snohomish River – Initial Discussion City Council Meeting 7:00 p.m., December 16, 2008 George Gilbertson Board Room Snohomish School District Resource Center 1601 Avenue D, Snohomish, WA 98290
The City’s Strategic Plan, Imagine Snohomish: Promoting Vitality and Preserving Character, calls for strengthening the downtown’s orientation to the riverfront. We are fortunate to have a downtown on a waterfront, but many people feel most downtown properties and buildings are oriented away from, rather than toward, the Snohomish River. This opinion applies to City-owned property and buildings as well as private property.
On December 16th, City staff that will offer some ideas and suggestions for strengthening the inter-relationship between the Historic Business District and the Snohomish River. This meeting constitutes the first such discussion and no final decisions or actions are expected. The focus of this initial discussion will be the area between Avenue D (to the west) and Cady Park (to the east).
